Although Year 5 were due to spend Friday learning at Stokes Bay, the forecast hot weather and the lack of shade and readily available drinking water meant we made the decision to relocate the day to the school site.

The venue may have changed, but the learning certainly didn’t! Children explored the importance of water safety, discovered more about the power of the sea and why it is so important that we all play our part in protecting our oceans.

Instead of sketching the beach, the children took inspiration from our beautiful school grounds, producing some fantastic observational drawings before creating thoughtful posters to raise awareness about caring for our marine environment.

It wasn’t quite the day we had planned, but it was still a wonderful day of learning, creativity and outdoor experiences. Sometimes adapting our plans is the best decision, and we are proud that the children embraced the change with such enthusiasm.
