As part of Year 6’s activities week, the children took part in an exciting DT day where they made ‘cheat pizzas’! We started off the day by looking at and recapping the five main food groups before looking at the steps and ingredients needed to make pizza. However, the children were not using the typical yeast dough, they mixed self-raising flour, natural yoghurt and baking powder to make the base. Some children were sceptical about using yoghurt but that was soon changed when they actually tasted it! After designing their pizzas, they went through the steps of making and kneading the dough before adding their toppings. As well as the making, they also had the responsibility of washing up all their equipment. The children were incredibly impressed with their creations with some children even saying that it was better than a takeaway and that they want to try them at home again!
