As part of their reading lessons, Year 4 explored Marcus Rashford’s powerful speech and campaign for free school meals.
To develop their inference skills, the children took part in a “hot seating” activity, where they stepped into the role of Marcus Rashford and answered questions from their classmates. Using evidence from the text, they considered his thoughts, feelings and motivations, deepening their understanding of both the speech and the important issues it addressed.
The activity encouraged thoughtful discussion and helped the children appreciate how determination and courage can make a positive difference to the lives of others.
