This week marks an important milestone for our Year 6 pupils. They started their KS2 SATs assessments on Monday and finish on Thursday. It has been lovely seeing so many of our Year 6 children arriving earlier than usual to attend our special SATs Breakfast Gathering before the school day begins. The relaxed breakfast session gives children the chance to enjoy breakfast, spend time with friends and chat with Team Rowner staff ahead of the day.

SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) help measure children’s progress in English and Maths at the end of junior school and provide useful information that travels with them to secondary school. The outcomes can help secondary schools understand pupils’ strengths and support future learning, including helping to inform pathways and GCSE predictions later in their education journey.

We are incredibly proud of how hard the children have worked over many months, and indeed throughout their time at Rowner, to prepare for this week. While SATs are important, we continue to remind our pupils that these tests do not define them. Their kindness, resilience, creativity, teamwork and character matter just as much.

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated staff team and supportive families who have helped encourage and prepare the children so positively. We know our Year 6 pupils are ready to do their very best.

Good luck, Year 6.
