Earlier in the week, Year 5 had a wonderful visit to St Mary’s Church, Rowner. The children deepened their understanding of Easter through a range of engaging activities. They began by revisiting our learning about symbolism, focusing on the meaning and importance of both the crucifix and the empty cross. They also explored the significance of Lent, discussing why Christians observe this period and what it represents. One of the highlights of the visit was watching demonstrations inspired by Jesus’ miracles, including the multiplication of bread and the transformation of the water being cleansed, which the children found fascinating. The children also examined different styles of crosses, thinking carefully about why they vary in appearance and how each one connects to the Easter story. It was a thoughtful and enriching experience that brought our classroom learning to life.
