This week, our school community came together in unity and respect as we marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day — a moment in history when World War II ended in Europe and peace was declared.

Today, we dressed proudly in red, white and blue and welcomed our friends from Rowner Infant School, along with many of our parents and carers, for a special shared celebration. Everyone enjoyed the picnic before our mini-performance. And the ice-ploes were a hit too. Our youngest pupils in Year R to our eldest in Year 6 wowed us with their fantastic dancing. Our parents and carers were full of praise, and the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.

Did you know? Gosport played an important role in the Second World War as a major embarkation point for Allied forces on D-Day in June 1944. Troops and equipment left from Stokes Bay, which is not too far from our school. This is a powerful reminder of our town’s proud history and the importance of remembering VE Day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this event.
