What happens when Mr Mulhall visits with a box of Lego and asks Year 4 to think like engineers? Magic! Yesterday, Willow Class took on a series of STEM challenges, collaborating to solve real engineering problems – designing something to help people and building something that could fly.

The creativity, ingenuity and problem-solving on display were incredible. Our children are extraordinary at thinking outside the box. A few of our favourites:

  • A huge, drivable wheelchair
  • A plane complete with its own landing area on board… for a bee
  • A rocket with deployable payload and defence systems

To round things off, our staff took on the challenge too – a huge well done to Mr Baldwin, who was (rightly) exceptionally proud of his ‘dragster’. Thank you to the Royal Air Force and Raising Robots for supplying these kits – opportunities like this do not happen without your generosity and support for the next generation of engineers. Awesome effort all round.
