We were delighted to welcome a special visitor from our local library to King’s Academy Rowner to introduce this year’s Summer Reading Challenge – “Read to the Beat!”
The children enjoyed learning all about the challenge, including what counts as reading and how they can take part over the summer holidays. We are excited to be supporting this fantastic initiative and encouraging all of our children to get involved.
The Summer Reading Challenge is a wonderful way to keep reading skills strong, discover exciting new books and enjoy all the benefits that reading for pleasure brings. Whether your child is already a keen reader or is still finding books they love, the challenge is designed to be fun, accessible and rewarding for everyone.
A huge thank you to Gemma, who led a brilliant assembly for our children and inspired so many of them to sign up. It was fantastic to hear their enthusiasm and excitement about choosing new books to read.
The best part? The Summer Reading Challenge is completely free to join! Children can also become members of their local library for free, giving them access to thousands of books, audiobooks and resources all year round.
Our local library, Gosport Discovery Centre, is based in the town centre next to the Town Hall. The friendly team will be happy to help children sign up, choose books and take part in this year’s challenge.
We would love to see as many King’s Academy Rowner children as possible joining in this summer. Why not visit the library, pick up a book and start your reading adventure?
