This week, Year 5 launched into their exciting new science unit, ‘Earth and Space.’ During our first lesson, we explored what the solar system is and took a closer look at the planets within it. We learned fascinating facts about the sizes of the planets and how long a year is on each one compared to Earth. To bring our learning to life, we headed outside to the playground, where we created our own version of the solar system! Using careful measurements, we spaced out our ‘planets’ to reflect their distances from one another in the solar system. It was a fantastic way to visualise the vastness of space and deepen our understanding of our incredible universe.
