The children danced superbly last night at Dance Live, delivering a powerful and memorable performance of Songs for the Unsung.
Inspired by The Highwayman and The Wicked Lady, the piece told a dramatic story of bravery, justice and resistance, while shining a light on the importance of remembering strong female figures whose voices are not always heard. The children rose to the challenge of telling this story through movement with confidence, expression and real maturity.
This was no easy performance. Managing a large cast on stage for the vast majority of the routine required focus, discipline and teamwork and the children handled it brilliantly. The lighting, backdrop, set design and choreography combined beautifully, creating a striking and atmospheric performance that truly impressed.
So much so, that we are incredibly proud to share that we:
- π₯ Came second overall
- π Won the Costume Award
- π Won the Technical Award
What an achievement and yes, that means finals, here we come!
We could not be prouder of the children. Months of hard work, commitment and rehearsals have paid off, and they performed with confidence, creativity and heart.
A huge thank you goes to the wider Team Rowner, who give their time so generously to support the children and gave up their Friday night to make this happen. A very special shout-out to Mrs Knoll and Miss Tuckley, whose endless hours of choreographing, organising, sorting, reworking, reordering (and so much more!) made this performance possible. We are incredibly grateful.
Team Rowner really are awesome. So, onwards to the finals!
