This half term, Year 5 have been learning about Buddhism in their RE lessons, with a particular focus on the important concept of peace. The children explored what peace means within Buddhism and why it is such an important value, both for individuals and for the wider world.

Through discussion and reflection, pupils learned that peace in Buddhism is not just about the absence of conflict, but about inner calm, kindness and understanding towards others. These ideas encouraged the children to think carefully about their own actions and how they can contribute to a more peaceful school and community.

To bring their learning to life, Year 5 took part in a creative activity where they used Lego to build something that represents peace to them. The children shared thoughtful explanations of their models, which included symbols of friendship, nature, harmony and safe spaces. This activity helped pupils express their ideas in a hands-on way while developing teamwork and creativity.

Learning about peace is important because it helps children build empathy, respect and emotional awareness. These lessons support our pupils in becoming caring, reflective individuals who understand the value of kindness and cooperation in everyday life.

Well done, Year 5, for your excellent learning and creativity!
