We are incredibly proud of Holly, Ben and Oscar, who took the initiative to write to Keir Starmer, our Prime Minister, before Christmas to share their thoughts and questions about issues that matter to them.
This week, they received a reply from 10 Downing Street and what a powerful moment it was for them. Asking questions, expressing views and receiving a response shows our pupils that their voices are valued and that they can play an active role in our democracy.
Writing to the Prime Minister helped the children understand that political engagement isn’t just something that happens when you’re older, it starts with curiosity, confidence and a willingness to speak up. Through this experience, they learned how decisions made nationally can affect everyday life, and that respectful dialogue is a vital part of being an informed and responsible citizen.
Moments like this bring learning to life. They support our commitment to British values, including democracy and individual liberty, and encourage pupils to see themselves as active participants in society; not just now, but in the future too.
Well done, Holly, Ben and Oscar. We are so proud of you for taking the step to ask questions, share your views and engage with the world beyond the classroom.
