This week, our pupils continued to build on their basketball skills with a focus on dribbling. Together, we explored some of the common mistakes players can make, such as double dribbling, travelling, or carrying the ball and how to avoid them.

The children then had the opportunity to practise the four key passes used in basketball, combining these with dribbling in a fun, fast-paced activity. They also learned how to take on an opponent by moving the ball quickly between both hands, using a crossover, and accelerating away with control.

As the session progressed, the children recognised that increasing the intensity of play makes it much harder to defend against compared with moving casually. We ended the lesson with a lively shooting game between two groups, giving everyone the chance to apply their new skills in a competitive and enjoyable way.

Our pupils showed fantastic energy and teamwork throughout. This was a brilliant step forward in their basketball journey!
