Last week, Year 3, 4 and 5 had the exciting opportunity to attend the BAE Systems STEM Roadshow, hosted at King’s Academy Brune Park. We would like to extend our thanks to our friends at KA Brune Park for welcoming us to such a super event.

From AI-generated music videos to hands-on experiences with lidar technology, the children were inspired, energised, and utterly captivated. A particular highlight was meeting Lexi the robot dog—who absolutely stole the show and the hearts of our children. “Everything… and watching Lexi do the tricks!” said Mia, while Ben added, “Watching the dog do the tricks” was his favourite part. Lexi even performed a backflip, which Loah described as a standout moment, and Victoria was amazed to see the robot form a heart shape and sing.

Lexi wasn’t the only robot to impress. “Watching the robot do multiple tricks and seeing its POV as it showed heat signature,” shared Henri, while Koby said, “When the robot started dancing, it was really funny!” Archie particularly enjoyed finding out the name of the robot, and Charlie said it was his favourite “because it could do cool tricks”.

The AI music videos had a big impact too. “Watching the music videos because they were very creative,” commented Chase, and Joey loved ‘seeing the Tesco Clubcard bit in the song!’ Kylan enjoyed ‘creating the song’, and Holly thought the end result was ‘pretty funky.’

The children’s engagement throughout the day spoke volumes. The roadshow was a celebration of curiosity, creativity and cutting-edge technology and the children’s own school values of honesty, faith and courage were even woven into their very own song.

Thank you to BAE Systems, the RAF and the Royal Navy for continuing to ignite a passion for STEM. Days like this show our children that the future is theirs to shape and they’ll do it with imagination and purpose.
