At Rowner, we firmly believe that learning isn’t just for children—it’s for teachers too! Every week, our dedicated staff take part in professional development meetings to ensure we are always improving, refining, and strengthening our practice. After all, the better we become, the better we can support our children.

This evening, our staff from Team Gomer and Team Rowner came together for an extended professional development session, continuing our journey from February’s INSET training. The focus? Further developing, consolidating, and refreshing our approach to writing—an essential skill for all our learners.

We were fortunate to be led by the brilliant Bob Cox, an inspirational educator known for his ‘Opening Doors’ approach. Bob champions the idea that high-quality texts and deep thinking should be at the heart of English learning, giving all children access to ambitious, rich language and meaningful writing opportunities. His insights and strategies energised our teams, helping us to build even more effective ways to inspire young writers.

Huge thanks to Bob for an engaging and thought-provoking session, and to our incredible staff teams for their enthusiasm and commitment. Investing in our own learning means we can continue to provide the very best for our children—because great teaching never stands still!
