Year 5 are learning about environmental art in their current unit. On the 29th April they found out about a sculpture called ‘Taking a Wall for a Walk’ by Andy Goldsworthy. In groups, the children answered questions linked to the piece including:

  • Is Goldsworthy’s work a piece of art or just a wall? Why?
  • What natural material did the artist use to make the sculpture?
  • Why do you think the sculpture is called Taking a Wall for a Walk?
  • Andy Goldsworthy makes his work knowing the landscape will change over time. How do you think the environment might change the sculpture?
  • How might the sculpture affect the environment?

During the activity, they showed fantastic teamwork and shared some great ideas!
