Year 5 had a wonderful time sleeping in the Spinnaker Tower on Thursday evening. During the evening they spotted local landmarks (including The Portsmouth Dockyard, Gosport Ferry and the Lipstick building), sketched the incredible view, watched the beautiful sunset and played games up in The Sky Garden. It was amazing to see so many children (and adults) facing their fears by being brave and stepping on to the glass floor! Miss Parker surprised the children by coming to help; they were very excited to see her! The children had a hot chocolate and cookie later on in the evening then listened to a bedtime story (The Snatcherbook). We all had lots of fun but were a little weary on Friday!

Here are some of the children’s best bits:

  • Waking up in the Spinnaker Tower on my Birthday- Grace M
  • The sky garden, the sketching and looking out the window at the view at night- Lola
  • Having the cookie and hot chocolate- Freddie
  • Doing the activities and walking on the glass floor and going up there for the first time in 6 years- Fin
  • I liked seeing the lipstick tower, sleeping next to the glass floor and waking up and seeing the sun rising- Max H
  • Going on the glass floor and then gaining the confidence to lay face flat on it- Michael
  • How fast the lift goes- Jackson

With thanks to big Team Rowner for volunteering their time to make this possible and for the parents supporting with contributions – without, such opportunities just would not be possible.
